ECLIPSES AND ASTROLOGY

In astrology, eclipses bring changes, and changes are usually stressful, good or bad. Eclipses usually come in pairs, one solar and one lunar, and we usually have 2 pairs of eclipses a year. They occur on the new moon and the full moon. Not all of them are visible in America, and solar eclipses usually have very limited visibility. It is said that the effects of an eclipse are 10 times more powerful than that of a normal new or full moon, and total eclipses have more influence than partial eclipses.

There are three types of lunar eclipses: penumbral, partial, and total. The penumbral eclipse happens when the moon passes through the edge, the fringe of the earth’s shadow. These are very subtle and hard to see. A partial eclipse happens when a portion of the moon passes through the earth’s shadow. And, the total eclipse happens when the entire moon passes through the earth’s shadow. From an astrological aspect, a total eclipse has much more influence than a partial or a penumbral.

Solar eclipses can be more complex than lunar. Sometimes the moon’s orbit is farther from the earth than it is at other times. When the moon crosses the sun but is too small to completely cover it, we call it an annular eclipse. There are also partial and total solar eclipses, and occasionally a hybrid eclipse will occur, which is when a total eclipse changes to an annular yada yada yada blah blah blah… Anyhow, total eclipses also have more influence than partial.

To find out how an eclipse is going to affect you. Find out what sign and what degree it’s happening in, and mark that spot on your natal chart. Is it conjunct any of your planets? Also check the sign opposite of the eclipse, because eclipses are reflective. If you’re not sure, then with your chart in hand, call an astrologer. You can probably get your answer in just a few minutes.
